QNB Egypt, a subsidiary of QNB Group, a leading financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, has inaugurated its new branch at Al Amreya Dry Port in Alexandria Governorate, coinciding with the port’s inauguration and the commencement of its operations. The branch will provide integrated banking services and solutions to support businesses across the trade and logistics sectors, reinforcing the bank’s commitment supporting key sectors of the Egyptian economy.
The inauguration was attended by Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport; Major General Magdy Anwar, Head of the National Service Projects Organization; Dr. Amira Yassin, Deputy Governor of Alexandria; and Eng. Sayed Metwally, Head of the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports. Representing QNB Egypt, the ceremony was attended by Mohamed Khairat, Assistant CEO, Board Member and Chief Business Officer, and Ali Abdel Raouf, Chief Operating Officer, alongside other senior bank officials.
Alongside core banking services, the branch focuses on international trade banking and trade finance solutions tailored to the nature of the port's activities and the needs of businesses operating within the port ecosystem. These services include support for import and export operations, payments and collections, letters of credit and letters of guarantee. It also serves businesses operating in maritime activities, logistics and customs clearance, helping facilitate transactions and improve business efficiency.
Spanning approximately 146,000 square metres and representing an investment of EGP 700 million, Al Amreya Dry Port is a key addition to Egypt’s transportation and logistics infrastructure. The port strengthens Alexandria’s capacity to serve trade and production activities while improving connectivity between seaports, industrial areas and distribution centres. It also supports the integration of different modes of transport, improving cargo handling efficiency, easing congestion at seaports and reducing transportation time and costs, thereby enhancing Egypt’s economic competitiveness and supporting the movement of imports and exports.
The port's inauguration comes as part of the Ministry of Transport’s strategy to develop integrated international development and logistics corridors and position Egypt as a regional hub for transportation, logistics and transit trade. This includes integrating land and dry ports and logistics zones with road networks, railways and modern transportation systems.
Through its management and operation of Alexandria Dry Port, Safety Link contributes to the advancement of the port’s logistics infrastructure and operational capabilities, helping create an integrated environment that supports the evolving needs of businesses and investors.
The new branch reflects QNB Egypt’s strategy to expand its presence in key economic hubs and provide specialised banking services that meet the evolving needs of businesses in trade, transportation and logistics, aiming to enhance the efficiency of financial operations and facilitate commercial transactions.
Mohamed Khairat, Assistant CEO, Board Member and Chief Business Officer at QNB Egypt, said: “The opening of our branch at Al Amreya Dry Port marks another step in strengthening our presence across key economic sectors and providing integrated banking solutions that meet their evolving needs. With this strategic presence, we aim to support businesses in trade and logistics, facilitate their financial transactions and deliver services tailored to their business requirements, reinforcing the bank’s role in supporting trade and economic activity in Egypt.”
